Big Sam's Funky Nation

Known for a boisterous blend of funk, jazz, rock, and hip-hop, and a whole lot of Southern charm, Big Sam’s Funky Nation might very well be New Orleans’ best kept secret. Powered by jaw-dropping technical talent and uncontainable energy on stage, their performances have become the stuff of legend.

Frontman “Big Sam” Williams personally draws on over two decades in the game, spanning everything from 300 shows per year during his days in Dirty Dozen Brass Band and gigs backing up Widespread Panic and Dave Matthews Band to recording and touring with Allen Toussaint and Elvis Costello. Additionally, he played a recurring role on the critically acclaimed HBO series Treme.

As much as Big Sam’s Funky Nation represents the beating heart of New Orleans, they ultimately do so for funk music as well—so, let’s get funky, y’all!!!

FAQ

  •  We are not currently an all ages venue. You must be 18 and up for entry. We are actively working to get back to our former all ages status.
  • The showtime listed for the event is the time the event starts. Doors will generally open an hour before the listed show time unless otherwise listed.
      We allow pets during the day, but not at night for music (anything after 7pm). Service animals are always allowed.
     
  •  Please do not park in the Broad Theater parking lot. We have a parking lot for  The Broadside and plenty street parking available on Toulouse and Lafitte. If you would like to be escorted to your car, please ask the Sheriff on duty. You may also park in the Auto Zone parking lot if they are closed. 
  •  
  •  We have a variety of seating options such as benches, picnic tables, chairs, and stools. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, if you require a seat for health reasons or disability, please ask a staff member and they can provide you with a chair.
