Description

Black in the Water is an immersive, interdisciplinary dance theater performance that explore the deep environmental and cultural ties between Black communities and water. As the second part of an environmental trilogy, following the success of Black on Earth, this project delves into ecomemories, ancestral and personal stories, that reveal the significance of water in Black histories and futures. Black in the Water is both an artistic endeavor and an educational tool, sparking conversations about the relationship between Black bodies, water, and land.

Brother(hood) Dance!

Brother(hood) Dance! is built on three foundational pillars that shape everything we do. These pillars—Dance, Agriculture, and Technology—are not only our methods of expression, but also our tools for creating a more just and connected world. Together, they form the heart of our mission to educate, engage, and inspire.

Brother(hood) Dance! is more than a dance company. We are storytellers, educators, and advocates dedicated to using the universal language of movement to connect people to the land, each other, and their shared histories. Our performances and workshops fuse the rhythms of the African Diaspora with sustainable agricultural practices and cutting-edge technology, crafting transformative experiences that engage and inspire.

At the heart of our work is the belief that every step tells a story, and through our collective movement, we can unearth the deep-rooted truths of our heritage and foster a future where creativity, sustainability, and justice thrive in harmony.
