Description
Join members of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) for a dance movement workshop inside KANEKO’s Bow Truss gallery, within the James Surls Nightshade and Red Bone exhibition. This workshop is intended primarily for adult movement artists and dancers, who will explore patterns and rhythms together with DCDC dancers in physical conversation with the Surls sculptures.
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company was founded in 1968 to create performance opportunities for dancers of color. Five decades later, the 10th largest modern contemporary dance company in the nation remains rooted in the African-American experience and committed to developing diverse movement artists on the global stage. Today DCDC is regarded one of the best contemporary dance companies in the US.
DCDC’s professionally trained dance artists come from all over the country. They’re renowned for their precision of dance execution, artistry, and connecting with audiences by emoting feelings that touch the soul. The dancers use their bodies as instruments to communicate and to elevate experience. One never leaves a DCDC performance unmoved.
