Elmwood Cemetery
824 South Dudley StreetHave you heard of Memphis's notorious "Pink Lizzie" ghost? How about Mothman? These are some top-billing ghouls, but we're going to learn about some of the lesser-known ones too, like the mummy that was kept on display in Bessemer, Alabama for over 50 years. Local artist and author Stacey Williams-Ng has been chasing these ghosts for the last six years to wrangle these stories into her brand new book HAUNTS: Fearsome Legends of the American South (2026, La Panthere).
Stacey will be interviewed by our very own Scandals & Scoundrels tour guide Sheena Barnett, host of the podcast "Cemetery Row." Stacey and Sheena will delve into the most spine-chilling details, in order to spill the tea on some long-dead Southerners (and the people who talk about them).
Join us in the chapel to hear excerpts from the book, true tales of paranormal investigations, and some behind-the-scenes looks at Stacey's illustrations and how she makes them. Stacey is also the author and artist behind the oracle card trilogy "The Southern Gothic Oracle," "The Southern Botanic Oracle," and yes—"The Haunts Oracle," so she has painted over 200 images for this collection in just over five years.
What better place for us to gather than the cemetery?
