Description

Due to the isolating terrain of the Appalachian mountains, residents here have created their own distinct culture; for over ten thousand years, storytelling has been at it's forefront. Thanks to the tradition of oral storytelling, the Appalachian mountains are home to some of the most bizarre and intriguing myths, legends, and lore: much of which is still passed down today.

Join us as we hike the Greeter's Cottage Loop and discuss the folklore local to our area. To conclude our hike, we will pay homage to one of the most popular aspects of Appalachian culture: moonshiners and bootleggers. Take the opportunity to warm up with a short moonshine tasting while standing in the replica layout of a 1900s home. One that was likely used to make "white lightning" at some point within the past 100 years.

Must be 21 years of age to participate in moonshine tasting.

Time: 11:00am - 1:00pm

Location: Greeter's Cottage Loop (Meet at Greeter's Cottage)
