Description

Our spring concert will mark our return to the stage after a two year hiatus. This season’s show features an eclectic lineup of repertoire, including everything from old favorites to never-before-seen premieres. We are excited to relaunch Michele Miller’s intimate duet Threshold (previously performed by BRD in 2014 and 2017), and the incomparable Jessica Zoller’s momentum-driven We go here, we go there (previously performed by BRD in 2014). New to BRD are Rachel Barker’s riveting and interconnected Parched Chalk // I See You, along with the murmuration-inspired romp Flocks are Flying Avalanches, choreographed by Adele Nickel. Rounding out the evening will be premieres by BRD’s own Soleil Chappelle and Emma Harvey, and a historical dance recreation generated during our Vernacular Jazz residency with Artist-in-Residence, Damian Cade.

Bellingham Repertory Dance

Established in 2005, Bellingham Repertory Dance is a dancer-run and directed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to bring vibrant, contemporary dance to the community. BRD is an ever-changing collection of versatile individuals from an array of backgrounds working toward new goals and skills every season. BRD encourages dialogue amongst current and new collective members to shape the next stage in the company’s story. The collective creates opportunities for accomplished artists to perform and create works by both established and emerging choreographers. BRD encourages and facilitates collaborative opportunities across disciplines within the Bellingham arts community and offers both community classes and annual youth programs. BRD also facilitates master classes with guest artists, the 7-Day Dance Festival, and occasional rehearsals open for public viewing.

Participation in the organization is open to all community members, while the artistic members of BRD are selected each season through audition. All artistic members share performative, educational, and administrative duties. Each season, BRD elects a board, and a leadership team of returning members to serve as liaisons for the five branches of the organization: Education, Performance Planning, Communications, Fundraising, and Administration. Members are expected to attend monthly all-company meetings, quarterly Ethics & Equity meetings, monthly subcommittee meetings and weekly company classes.

BRD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For funding the company relies on ticket sales and fundraising events, as well as monetary and in-kind donations from friends, family, and supporters of dance. Please visit our support page to make a donation.
