Description
A day of guided yogic breathing,
Join Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian — a cell biology researcher and founder of the PranaScience Institute — studying the science of the breath — for a day of instruction, community, and stillness at Naga Gardens.
Dr. Balasubramanian's research asks what a single deep breath actually gives you — the measurable, physiological shift behind an ancient practice. This retreat brings that science into the body: a full day of guided pranayama, talks, and quiet time among the trees.
What Is Pranayama?
Pranayama is the yogic practice of consciously regulating the breath — its pace, depth, and rhythm — to calm the nervous system and steady the mind. Through simple, repeatable techniques, it turns something we do 20,000 times a day without thinking into a deliberate tool for focus and ease.
The Day:
Morning — Settle in with a warm welcome, gentle yoga, and guided pranayama
Midday — Unwind over a shared vegetarian lunch
Afternoon — Ease into a relaxed lecture on the science behind pranayama
Closing — Drift into stillness with a final pranayama practice
The Setting
Naga Gardens is an open-air space tucked into Loxahatchee Groves. All practice and teaching happen outdoors, so come dressed to be comfortable in the sun and shade.
What to Bring?
A yoga mat, a water bottle, and sun protection (hat and/or sunscreen) for the outdoor sessions.
