Description

Join us for the first of a two-part training event. The aim is to equip a staff member or volunteer from your food project with tools and strategies for navigating challenging situations and fostering a supportive environment. Led by experienced trainer Emma Reeves from Trust for Developing Communities, this interactive workshop provides a space for peer learning, reflection, and practical skill development.

This session is Part 1 - Will be a peer-learning workshop looking at de-escalation techniques, individual well-being, empathic distress and burn-out. We will be co-creating and sharing techniques for managing difficult situations, personal resilience strategies and practical self-care techniques.

Part 2 will take place 28th May, 10am-12noon (provisional) - The second session will explore how we can develop and embed strategies to manage difficult situations within our organisations, reflecting as a peer group on how we have created supportive cultures in our spaces, and identifying next steps.

Who is the course for: A staff member or volunteer of EFN or AFN member organisations who are providing food directly to the community.

Cost: Free. One place per organisation.

Time: 11am-1pm (10:45 arrival for prompt 11:00am start)

What to bring:  Bring a pad and paper for note-taking and reflection.

Venue: Brighton Depot & Head Office for FareShare Sussex & Surrey, Unit 3–4 Fairway Business Centre, Westergate Road, Brighton, BN2 4JZ

Accessibility: The training room is only accessible by a flight of stairs. If arriving by car, please pull into the Fareshare Compound (beware of fork lift vehicles), collect a parking permit from reception, then park your cars in the neighbouring car parking area at Booker Cash and Carry.
