Description
This session is Part 2 - This second session will include more practical suggestions around de-escalation and we have added an extra half hour to the session to include this. We will also explore how we can develop and embed strategies to manage difficult situations within our organisations, reflecting as a peer group on how we have created supportive cultures in our spaces, and identifying next steps.
The aim of the course is to equip a staff member or volunteer from your food project with tools and strategies for navigating challenging situations and fostering a supportive environment. Led by experienced trainer Emma Reeves from Trust for Developing Communities, this interactive workshop provides a space for peer learning, reflection, and practical skill development.
Who is the course for: A staff member or volunteer of EFN or AFN member organisations who are providing food directly to the community. If possible we would like the same people to attend as completed part 1 of the course, but if not please send another member of your project, ideally someone who has a leadership role within the organisation.
Cost: Free. One place per organisation.
Time: 10am-12.30pm (9.45am arrival for prompt 10.00am start)
What to bring: Bring a pad and paper for note-taking and reflection.
Venue: Brighton Depot & Head Office for FareShare Sussex & Surrey, Unit 3–4 Fairway Business Centre, Westergate Road, Brighton, BN2 4JZ
Accessibility: The training room is only accessible by a flight of stairs. If arriving by car, please pull into the Fareshare Compound (beware of fork lift vehicles), collect a parking permit from reception, then park your cars in the neighbouring car parking area at Booker Cash and Carry.
Do not come if you are feeling unwell. We will operate a waiting list, so any advance warning if you feel that you are unlikely to make it means that we can invite others.
If you have any questions please contact Emma Brown on emma@bhfood.org.uk or 07342 987 667.
