Join us for this two-part training event. A ticket books you on for both dates, if you aren't able to attend both please consider sending another person from your organisation.
The aim is to equip a volunteer from your food project with tools and strategies for navigating challenging situations and fostering a supportive environment. Led by experienced trainer Emma Reeves from Trust for Developing Communities, this interactive workshop provides a space for peer-learning, reflection, and practical skill development. There will be opportunities to bring queries specific to your team, and to bring resources back to your organisation.
Priority places will be given to organisations which have not attended this training before.
Part 1 - Tuesday February 3, 2026, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
A peer-learning workshop looking at de-escalation techniques, individual well-being, empathic distress and burn-out. We will be co-creating and sharing techniques for managing difficult situations, personal resilience strategies and practical self-care techniques.
Part 2 - Tuesday March 17, 2026, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
This second session will include more practical suggestions around de-escalation. We will also explore different ways that community organisations can embed strategies to manage difficult situations, reflecting as a peer group on how we contribute to supportive cultures in our spaces, and identifying next steps.
