Claudia Carballada is a visual artist with a studio practice rooted in drawing and painting, extending to installation and performance. The impetus of her work comes from the exploration of emotive and intuitive mark-making as it aligns with the vibrations of color, movement and emotion, all represented through gestural abstraction. Claudia is Creative Director for The Discovery Project, an ensemble based in Los Angeles which produces multimedia installations for performances based in music. Together with this team, she creates concepts, maintains the role of scenographer, and engages in performance with live painting and drawing. She has guest lectured in figure painting and taught drawing, painting, and figure drawing at many universities and community organizations. She has coordinated gesture drawing/dance workshops and gallery performances as well as exhibited her work in numerous exhibitions.
Phyllis Thompson is an esteemed printmaker, textile artist, lecturer and art educator. Her work has been featured at galleries and museums across the country including Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Brandywine Workshop Print Collection, the Burchfield Penney Art Museum, and the Buffalo AKG. Working with textiles, collage, and multimedia prints, Phyllis explores memories of family, relationships and ancestors. Locally, Phyllis was a part of the Artist-In-Residence program at Artpark, in Lewiston, in 1975. Currently, she is a lecturer at Buffalo State and is a resident artist at Buffalo Arts Studio. With a passion for storytelling through visuals, she has become an important figure in Buffalo's art scene, inspiring others with her unique perspective and vibrant style.

The Castellani Art Museum (CAM) at the center of the Niagara University campus is dedicated to the enjoyment and educational potential of artistic creativity. As a major resource for the visual arts in Niagara County, the CAM's permanent collection includes over 5,000 pieces of mainly modern and contemporary art, and hosts a unique Folk Arts Program supporting traditional artists and community-based cultural traditions in the Buffalo-Niagara region.
In keeping with Niagara University's Vincentian mission, the museum recognizes and serves the diverse racial, ethnic, and religious communities of the Niagara region through the organization and presentation of exhibitions which honor and explore their artistic traditions and contemporary output. In addition to presenting diverse artistic expressions, the museum works in partnerships to explore and redefine the relationship between the museum and its constituencies.
As a university museum, the Castellani Art Museum serves the educational needs of the community, by working with Niagara University faculty on integrative learning projects for college students and providing art education programs for area schools and cultural organizations. The museum staff works with educators to develop art-based learning programs that help to promote critical thinking.
