Description
This course will be of interest to anyone who is interested in being able to euthanise wildlife humanely and safely using a Captive Bolt (CB) gun, including wildlife carers and wildlife responders. In particular, this course may benefit those who are considering purchasing a CB as well as those who have bought a CB but are unsure about how best to use it. The 2.5 hr course will be run on 2 separate days, at locations at Onkaparinga Hills (20 Sep starting time 10am) and Gumeracha (21 Sep starting time at 2pm). Course Learning Objectives
- Identify when euthanasia is appropriate.
- Become familiar with a captive bolt and how it operates
- Understand how to use a captive bolt safely
- Become familiar with important anatomical landmarks for the euthanasia of wildlife (especially possums, koalas and kangaroos) and how to assess death
- Understand how to use a captive bolt for euthanasia of wildlife
