Catawba Riverkeeper Board of Directors Kayak Trip

Description

Celebrate Earth Day with your fellow Riverkeeper Board members and their family and friends on a kayak trip down the South Fork River! Riverkeeper staff will guide a 1.5-mile paddle from the McAdenville Greenway and Blueway Launch next to The River Room to Goat Island in Cramerton. We'll shuttle back to The River Room and walk over to Spruced Goose for lunch which is located across the street. 

 

You may rent a single or tandem kayak and accompanying gear or bring your own. There are only 20 kayak spots available, so register early! Youth must be eight years of age to ride in their own kayak or ride with an adult in a tandem kayak if under eight. All registered participants will receive an outing details email two days prior to the event. 

 

Event Details

 

When: Saturday, October 15 – 9:30am-12pm (lunch to follow)

 

Where: 

• Meet at Catawba Riverkeeper HQ/The River Room – 102 Main Street, Suite 100, McAdenville, NC
• Kayak trip launching from the adjacent McAdenville Greenway and Blueway Launch to the Town of Cramerton
• Return to Riverkeeper’s office to change and walk across the street to Spruced Goose for lunch

 

What is Provided:

• Tour of Riverkeeper’s new spaces – office, lab, classroom, and The River Room taproom
• Kayak equipment and dry bags
• Riverkeeper staff kayaking guidance and an update on our goals and activities
• Shuttle back to The River Room and Riverkeeper HQ

 

What to Bring/Wear:

• Appropriate clothing layers to be on the water. You may get wet.
• Shoes with a heal strap
• Water bottle
• Sunglasses or hat
• Change of clothes and towel (optional)
• Kayak equipment and gear (optional)
• Lunch is available for purchase
