We guarantee this to be a once in a lifetime learning opportunity, hosted by Cam and Molly of Great Northern Nautical, with wildlife and landscape photography instruction provided by renowned photographer Chris Celentano.
This 3 hour tour aboard a one of a kind yacht will allow guests to see the most rugged regions of Southern Lake Pend Oreille in true comfort! Capture the lake’s awe-inspiring scenery as well as its unique blend of wildlife, such as mountain goats delicately perched amongst towering cliffs as well as migratory waterfowl and dozens of majestic bald eagles actively feeding and hunting fish. We may even get lucky and find Elk, Mule Deer, White Tail Deer, Coyote and even Moose, which have been spotted on the shorelines during previous lake tours.
Event Instructor, Chris Celentano, is “on- board” for the group, and one on one photography instruction. Chris has years of experience teaching both beginner and intermediate photography workshops in some of the most breathtaking and remote locations of Northern Idaho! This guy doesn’t do boring things!
On these winter tours you can expect to encounter the challenges of shooting in varying light levels from a moving boat while targeting wildlife that can be at varying distances, “posing” for us or on the move, as well as scenic landscapes with contrast and colors that will provide the content for you to learn from! Your skills will grow and you can apply your new talents to your photography journey and take pride in sharing your work!
Skills taught will range from: How to hold and look through your camera in order to track moving subjects; stabilizing images; easy to understand explanation of exposure settings; shooting modes and focusing skills. Who knew learning could be so fun?
Adventure One is a large and stable yacht, you can take photos from the heated space indoors or outside.
Spaces are limited so be sure to take advantage of this unique opportunity to take in spectacular scenery, while honing and perfecting your photography skills.
Who is this for?
The event is tailored for beginner to intermediate photographers who want to grow their photography skills. You should have a basic understanding of how to use your equipment.
But all levels of photographers would gain something from this experience.
What Equipment do I need?
Any camera brand is okay. You should have a modern, medium to high resolution DSLR or Mirrorless camera that can crop.
Bring a medium wide angle lens for landscapes and a long telephoto. A 100-400 or 200-600 type lens would be best for shooting the wildlife, but a 100-300 kit lens would still work.
Event Instructor Bio:
Chris Celentano is a nationally published photographer and workshop instructor who has spent his formative years and into adulthood exploring what north Idaho, and the surrounding region, have to offer. The most off-the-beaten-path places that provide almost extreme challenges to access is where he thrives. Second only, of course, to helping his incredible wife raise three beautiful daughters. One of his greatest passions is to teach; teaching folks the art and science of photography, kayaking, canyoning, and various forms of climbing is one of the most rewarding aspects of life.
