Description

Join abolitionist and educator, Charlotte Forten, in an antebellum tour of Salem. Learn about the progress African-Americans are making in winning equal treatment and the many steps still to go. 

Please wear comfortable shoes for walking and standing on uneven brick and cobblestone. 

We will start and return to 32 Derby Square, outside the Old Town Hall. 

Please note: the exterior of the Old Town Hall is being restored, and the interior is not accessible. Bathrooms may be used at the National Park Visitor's Center in Armory Park (New Liberty Street, Salem) which is a stop about halfway through the tour. 

The tour will walk rain or shine, but may be cancelled in the case of forecasted extreme weather. In such a case you will be notified via the contact info you provide at check out.
