Creamy, rich, and smooth cheesecakes have come a long way since hitting the markets of Ancient Greece in the 5th century BC when cheesecake was born. Transformed in Europe to the pastry base in a tart form that is very much like today, it arrived in the American Colonies in the 1730s with Philadelphia (perhaps why the Philadelphia Cream cheese brand?) becoming the home to the “Cheesecake House”.
In the 1930s, the basis of the Americanized cheesecake changed a lot when traditional curd cheese was phased out and replaced with cream cheese a much creamier, richer, and tastier treat. One of the most famous cheesecake options got its signature smooth taste from the extra egg yolks – a luxury we Vegan Gluten Freers can’t afford – so in this class, you will learn to create the creamiest of cheesecakes in a variety of flavors rivaling the likes of Junior himself ; )
Classes are limited to 8 people and are held at our Vegan & Gluten-Free Kitchen in Keyport, 351 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ.
