Description
Join us for an evening of live, filmed, or possibly live-via-Zoom short puppet works (3–5 minutes) inspired by Shakespeare: sincere or outrageous, mashup or monologue, pun-filled or poignant. Presented as part of Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks Week of Will Birthday celebration.
Want to be included in the show? Apply by April 4. See www.pittsburghshakespeare.org for details (pasted below:)
Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks seeks both filmed and live short puppet works under five minutes long, in some way inspired by the plays, poetry or life of William Shakespeare (this can be an excerpt, an exploration, a mash-up, a what-if -- anything goes really). This a show for adults -- feel free to lean way into the delightful bawdy ridiculousness that is Shakespeare.
Send description of live pieces by email and completed filmed pieces by WeTransfer to administrator@pittsburghshakespeare.org ON OR BEFORE midnight APRIL 4, 2026. If selected, we will need additional information such as an introduction about you/your company, how you would like your piece to be described, and any publicity photos that you'd like to share. Depending on grant receipt, participants may possibly receive a small honorarium in the neighborhood of $25 to $50 American.
A puppet slam is an evening of curated short (3 to 5 minutes) puppet pieces intended for an adult audience centered around a theme. Our fifth annual Ciphers to this Great Accompt puppet slam will take place on Monday April 20 at 7:30 at the Glitterbox Theater in Homestead, as part of our Week of Will Celebration of Shakespeare's Birthday.
