Description
Dror Israel is a grassroots organization of 1,500+ trained educators living together in 16 Kibbutzim throughout Israel. Embedding in the communities, they serve and partner with municipalities to address local needs.
They are working to close the gap between Jewish and Arab Israelis through their associated Youth Movement, NOAL. With 80,000 youth in 350 branches, including 20,000 Arab, Muslim, Druze, and Christian youth in 55 branches, they emphasize commonality and celebrate diversity.
Join Dror and NOAL leaders Mirit Sulema and Shadi Habiballah in conversation about the present and future of Dror Israel and NOAL youth movement.
Meet the Leaders:
Mirit Sulema (37) is an educational and social leader with over a decade of experience driving community-based initiatives and fundraising strategies in Israel and abroad. Since 2018, she has led the International Partnerships and Fundraising team at Dror Israel, a nationwide movement of educators.
Mirit has a record of social entrepreneurship and impactful project leadership. Highlights of her work include founding the urban educators’ kibbutz in Akko, organizing emergency and recovery programs following October 7 for some 40,000 evacuees, and building infrastructure for psychosocial resilience initiatives in northern Israel.
Her background combines deep educational expertise with practical experience in inter-organizational collaboration, public speaking, and budget management. She holds an M.Ed. in Educational Systems Management and a B.Ed. in Informal Education from Beit Berl College, along with certification to lead educational missions on the history of Greek Jewry and the Holocaust.
Mirit lives in Rishon Letzion with her partner Shiri and their 3-year-old son, Uriah.
Shadi Habiballah, from Ein Mahel in northern Israel, is the Director of Development and Strategy for the Arab Community in NOAL (HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed), one of Israel’s largest youth movements and its most diverse, with some 20,000 Arab-Israeli youth members – some 20% of the organization.
Since he was a teenager himself, he has been working in various roles in NOAL – in informal education, coexistence work, and leadership development – in order to strengthen the minds and values of children and teens in Arab-Israeli communities and throughout Israeli society. As the Director of Development and Strategy, he has been strengthening international partnerships and running special emergency programs in response to October 7th and the subsequent war, including working with evacuee communities and directing emergency preparedness programs for children and teens in Arab communities in northern Israel.
Shadi holds an education degree and teaching certificate from Oranim College.
