Cloud Ghost: A Spring Ritual Series for Rest and Dreams

Description

What does it mean to dream?
Can you hear the call of your inner life?
How does your inner life feed your life's direction?

If these questions speak to you, then Cloud Ghost will be especially restorative for you.

In Cloud Ghost, we’ll connect with the essence of spring. Spring resonates with the liver system in Chinese medicine. Within the liver resides the Hún (魂) spirit, often translated as “cloud ghost.” The essence of cloud ghost is wonder—a quality needed to hear the call of your dreams. Cloud ghost also feeds the charge to move forward and the momentum to manifest.

Spring is a time of bursting forth and manifesting our dreams. It invites us to let our hair down and be spacious.

Through four live online sessions on Tuesday evenings, I will guide you through practices to let go of the day's worries, prepare for a good night's sleep, and connect with your dreams. We'll create a space for your unbound creative self to wonder.

Join me from the comfort of your own home for this nighttime series. I’ll share some of the practices below (not all at once), over the course of the four rituals:

  • Guided meditations through the liver channel
  • Xiāo Yáo Sǎn, or Free and Easy Wanderer, a harmonizing herbal formula for the liver and spleen through:
    • Foot soaking
    • Herbal tea preparation
    • Reflective writing
  • Acupressure and facial gua sha using the essential oil blue tansy
  • Restorative breathing

Picture yourself on a Tuesday evening—released from your concerns, connected to your body, and inspired for what awaits you in the morning. You’re creating and directing a wondrous life. This is the experience awaiting you when you participate in Cloud Ghost.

Owned by Paige Barnes, Peony is a sanctuary for care and self-discovery, offering acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, restorative retreats, and health consultations. Peony embodies yin—the nourishing aspect of life. Here, care is an act of devotion rooted in compassion for yourself and others.

Paige Barnes, an East Asian medicine practitioner and dance artist, combines over twenty years of dance-making experience with her healing practice. She creates innovative ways to connect people with their body's imagination and nature. In 2017, during a three-month residency at Seattle Art Museum, Paige pioneered pulse dance reading—listening to a person's pulse and translating it into dance. This exploration sparked a deeper journey into belonging and connection. She developed multiple works using the pulse as a creative source and began exploring its application in therapeutic settings. Today, Paige creates and holds space for individuals to gain greater self-understanding through individual care, retreats, and performances.

Paige holds an MS in East Asian Medicine from Bastyr University (2016), NCCAOM Board Certification (2017), and a BA in Dance from the University of Washington (1999). She has also studied the origins and applications of Chinese medicine with Edward Neal, MD, EAMP and Sabine Wilms, PhD.
