This is a 7-week course held on Sundays from 4:00-6:00pm* Oct 5th - Nov 16th
(*2-4pm on Oct 19 & Nov 16)
Classes are held at The Studio Athens • 160 Tracy St Unit 8, Athens, GA 30601
This clown class is for anyone seeking to become more dynamic in front of a crowd. Learn how to use failure as a comedic tool, discover the joy of being less intelligent, and play a lot of games! Through this class, we will explore core clown principles like fixed point, eye contact, le jeu (the game), silence, and major/minor. Through a series of games, physical exercises, and solo/partner work, participants learn to stay present, connect with others, and embrace failure as part of the creative process. No prior clowning experience is necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to play. Participants should wear clothes they can move in. No props or preparation required.
Taught by award-winning performer/director Chase Brantley, this workshop is perfect for actors, improvisers, theatre students, and anyone interested in exploring what makes us funny.
