Description
Come connect, shake it, laugh, celebrate and support Jewish community at this special Co/Lab event. We 'll donate a share of event proceeds with Taking Ownership PDX, an organization that brings people together to "renovate and revive Black-owned homes, with an emphasis on enabling Black homeowners to age in place, generate wealth and simultaneously deter predatory investors and realtors to deflect the gentrification process."
Expect Music, drinks, snack-y food and entertainment to boot: a Purim schpiel-inspired DRAG SHOW featuring amateur drag artists from the community and pro drag artists Poly Poptart (IG @polypoptart) and Babylon Brooks (IG @babylonbrooks). You are welcome - and encouraged - to bring the kids to the event but note that (1) alcohol is served by bartenders on site and (2) sometime after 8pm things will take a PG-13 turn! Last year some kids stayed with us past this time!
Here's the schedule:
7pm Music, drinks, conversation with all the fabulous people.
7:30pm Havdalah to kiss goodbye Shabbat and kiss hello our evening of celebration.
8pm Drag show fun begins
then DJ BaButchka takes over and....we eat, drink, dance, and go wild. It is Purim, after all.
We need volunteers to help on the day of the event. If you can help make the event great, fill out this form. Volunteers are entitled to a free ticket. COVID notes: Masks are strongly encouraged. If you're having any contagious symptoms, we ask that you get some rest and watch a funny movie instead. If you test positive shortly after the event, please email rabbijosh@colabpdx.org so we can inform attendees.
Co/Lab would like to thank The Alberta Shul for their support of this special event. Learn more about the great stuff they do in the community here.
