Now in its 45th season, the St. John’s Boys’ Choir continues the tradition of enabling boys to express themselves through music and provides an environment that nurtures and encourages creativity. Founded in 1981 by Br. Paul Richards and the Saint John’s monastic community, the organization has grown to include four choral ensembles which perform more than fifty engagements annually. Members of the choir represent home, public, and private schools in more than fifteen communities around Central Minnesota.
Description
Join the SJBC for a wonderful afternoon of music in collaboration with Great River Resonance (GRR), the premier handbell choir based in St. Cloud, MN. Each October the SJBC performs their season opener in collaboration with another artist or ensemble. This year, we are excited about our collaboration with GRR. The repertoire will feature the choir accompanied by handbells, and GRR will also perform solo pieces that will highlight various techniques employed by handbell ensembles. The audience will also have a chance to learn a bit more about handbells and may even have the chance to ring one.
