Ruth is an established short story writer who has turned to teaching in her later years. When she begins to mentor young grad student Lisa, the two women discover that they have much to learn from each other. As Lisa’s work and reputation grow, the temperature of the relationship shifts — especially when Lisa’s work reveals one of Ruth’s most treasured secrets.
