We began as a nomadic theatre company in San Francisco at the start of the millennium, eventually finding a creative home at Fort Mason’s Southside Theatre. Over the years, the arts have faced enormous challenges, from shifting cultural priorities to the devastating impact of the pandemic. Through it all, we have continued to create and to persevere, fueled by the belief that bold theatre matters. Today, we return with renewed purpose to build a permanent space for Bay Area actors to take on daring, exhilarating work at a standard that feels fully professional, powered by the spirit and commitment of a volunteer ensemble. Our goal is to give audiences the kind of transformative theatrical experiences that stay with them long after the curtain falls.

On September 11, 2001, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland. Overnight, the town’s population nearly doubled. With the world in shock, the people of Gander opened their homes, schools, and hearts to the stranded travelers—offering meals, shelter, music, and a place to begin making sense of the unimaginable.
Based on the remarkable true story, Come From Away follows the islanders and the “come from aways” as they find humor, kindness, and unexpected connection in the days that follow. Its propulsive folk-rock score, colored by Celtic influences, carries a story full of warmth, wit, and humanity.
Revival Hall is a gathering place, and that makes it a fitting home for this story of a community welcoming strangers as family. Our immersive staging brings the actors and musicians into close conversation with the room. The cast transforms in full view, moving between the people of Gander and the travelers they welcomed, while the live band fuels the storytelling. This production has its own shape, rhythm, and relationship with the space—an intimate, actor-musician interpretation created for Revival Hall. Come share the room, the music, and the story of what can happen when people show up for one another.
Come From Away is presented in special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
