Description

Featuring Composers & Conductors from CONCORA
Special Guests: Richard M. Coffey & Larry Allen

CONCORA was founded as the South Church Choral Society by Artistic Director Emeritus Richard M. Coffey fifty years ago.  The final concert of the season honors the legacy of our past five decades and looks ahead to CONCORA's bright future.  To kick things off, we welcome back Maestro Coffey and organist Larry Allen, the choir’s exceptional founding accompanist, for a performance of the first piece sung by CONCORA in its debut concert.  Highlighting the many multi-talented members of the choir, the first half continues featuring music composed and conducted by a number of current CONCORA singers.  In the second half, Artistic Director Chris Shepard leads CONCORA, joined by singers from area high schools and colleges, in pieces that represent each decade of the choir’s half-century history, including a new work commissioned by CONCORA from Martin A. Sedek.  Come and celebrate this important milestone for Connecticut’s choral community!
