Concordia Master Chorale Concordia Choir MasterWorks Orchestra Michael Busch, conductor Patrick Blackwell, bass-baritone
Concordia presents one of the most celebrated choral masterworks of all time, Mendelssohn's Elijah. An oratorio on a grand scale, Mendelssohn's work won immediate success at its debut and has received regular performances for over 150 years. Its popularity is due largely to its highly dramatic portrayal of Elijah's struggles against ungodly forces. Witness how faithfully God worked through the prophet's life in epic struggles against the followers of Baal, the miracle of raising a widow's son from the dead, and his ascension to heaven in a chariot of fire. A musical highlight of the year!
The Master Chorale and Concordia Choir are dedicated to excellence and perform for thousands of people each year in the beautiful acoustics of the Concordia Center for Worship and Performing Arts. They are joined by the MasterWorks orchestra, an ensemble consisting of professional instrumentalists from the community.
