Concordia Music Competition

 

Location: Borland-Manske Center Charlie (Music)

            1530 Concordia West, Irvine, California, 92612, United States
 

Competition Date: Saturday, Feb. 5th , 2022 
    (We will assign a specific time to each participant after the application period is closed)
 

Application Deadline : Wednesday, January 5th, 2022  
 

Application Fee (non- refundable) :  $60 for soloists

                                                                     $35 per ensemble member 
 

Categories
 

- Soloists: Piano, Harp, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Oboe, Basson, Flute, 
                                Clarinet, Horn, Trumpet, Tuba, Trombone, Saxophone  
 

- Chamber ensemble: Any chamber ensemble group, from duo to octet.
 

Category A : Age 10 & under 

Category B : Age 12 & under

Category C:  Age 15 & under

Category D: Age 18 & under 

Category E: Age 19 to 24 (College) 
 

Repertoire: Free choice of one piece (5 mins limit) 

                    

Awards

  • First prize  : Certificate + $200 scholarship to CUI Summer Chamber Music Camp, 2022 . 

* For chamber ensembles, each member will receive a $200 scholarship for CUI Summer Chamber Music Camp, 2022 if they register for the camp as a group.

  • Second prize : Certificate + $100 scholarship to CUI Summer Chamber Music Camp, 2022. 

* For chamber ensembles, each member will receive a $100 scholarship for CUI Summer Chamber Music Camp, 2022 if they register for the camp as a group.

  • Third prize : Certificate
  • Fourth prize : Certificate
  • Honorable mention: Certificate

 

Complete Guidelines

  1. Age is determined by the date of the competition, February 5th, 2022. The applicant has to submit a proof of age (a copy of driver’s license, birth certificate, etc.).
  2. Ensemble category participants are entered by the age of the oldest student as of February 5th, 2022.
  3. All participants must provide a copy of the score for the chosen piece to the judges at the time of the competition.
  4. Each participant has to provide his/her own accompanist that is not their private teacher. 
    ( Please contact Dr. Shin at hyejung.shin@cui.edu if you need an accompanist )
  5. Participants may use the music.
  6. The judges’ decisions are final.
  7. All participants will receive the comments from judges.
  8. All participants beside the winners will receive a certificate of participation.
  9. All winners agree to allow their names, photographs and video files to be used in connection with the competition as publicity for Concordia Summer Chamber Music Camp.
