Description

Concordia University Irvine is pleased to launch the first Piano Summer Music Camp in the Borland-Manske Center. Young talented pianists take part in intensive piano programs with distinguished faculty and guest artists enhancing their musical skills and knowledge, and sharing with peers and professional musicians.


REGISTRATION

Video recordings required to apply. Use YouTube or a similar video-sharing platform to share one or two recordings that demonstrate your highest level of musical achievement. Because of COVID-19 safety guidelines, there are limited positions available this summer. Participants will be selected to participate based on their video audition submission. 

• Video audition and application due 5/28/2021.
• Results announced 6/1/2021. Tuition due after selections have been made.
• All participants must prepare two contrasting repertoires to be ready to perform for the program.

 

Application Deadline: May 28th, 2021

Tuition: $860 (due after selection process)

PROGRAM FEATURES

Two outstanding masterclass series.

Two private lesson

Special topics class with featured guest lecturers

• “Keyboard Technique and its Development through the Centuries”

by Dr. Sarkis Baltaian

• Guest Artist Recital: Sung Chang, piano

• "How to Practice Piano”

by Dr. Lorna Griffit

• "Organ and Harpsichord: Ancestors of the Piano"

by Dr. Tom Mueller

Daily Practice

• Supervised individual practice hours in one of piano practice rooms of BMC music building.

Recording

• Students will get their own recording of the recital.

• Students may schedule additional recording sessions (additional fee applies)

“How to Prepare the Performance”

• Dress rehearsal with piano faculty.

Final Recital

• Students will perform their prepared repertoire at the final concert.

Certification

• All participants will receive a program completion certificate.

Meals

• Lunch will be provided

 

Final Performance Concert

All performers are featured in the final concert on the last day of the camp (live or in-person concert TBD).
