ABOUT THE SHOW:

A perennial PS21 favorite, Paul Taylor Dance Company captivates audiences with its athleticism, emotion, and daring. The company returns to the Pavilion Theater with three of the choreographer’s signature works: Brandenburgs (1988) and Promethean Fire (2002), with music by J. S. Bach and Runes (1975), with music by Gerald Busby. In 2021 PTDC came to PS21 for the first time, spending three weeks in residency to recreate Kurt Jooss’ 1932 anti-war masterpiece, The Green Table.

“One of the most exciting, innovative, and delightful dance companies in the entire world” (The New York Times) returns to the Pavilion Theater with three of the choreographer’s signature works: Brandenburgs (1988) and Promethean Fire (2002), with music by J. S. Bach and Runes (1975), with music by Gerald Busby

“Unlike many dance documentaries, “Paul Taylor: Creative Domain” doesn’t fetishize every aspect of the dancer’s day. It zeroes in on a mystery. . . .

The mystery is how Taylor, one of the greatest modern-dance choreographers, uses a simple formula of people plus time to make a work of art that pulls you in like an undertow.

– Sarah Kaufman, The Washington Post

ABOUT THE CHEF:

Fancy Feast Supper Club is a creative dinner series organized by artist, chef, and homesteader Leah Guadagnoli. She brings people together through homegrown, globally inspired vegetarian meals prepared from her garden with passion, love, and a genuine curiosity for the overlapping flavors and techniques our expansive universe has to offer. Through extensive research and an ethically conscious appreciation of other cultures through food, her goal is to celebrate our commonalities and unique differences to form connections and better understand the world we share.

About PS21

A vibrant center for contemporary performance in the Hudson Valley, PS21 “presents work that challenges and invites” (The New York Times): adventurous productions by leading and emerging American and international artists in music, dance, and theater, and visionaries creating entirely new genres. On our open-air Pavilion Theater stage, across our expansive, unspoiled grounds, and in the diverse surrounding communities, PS21 cultivates and presents productions that transcend aesthetic boundaries and revitalize existing artistic languages and grammars. Throughout the year, we host developmental residencies for dancers, musicians, actors, and creators of original, even unclassifiable new work. Rooted in community collaboration, PS21’s programming engages creatively with critical global and social issues. It is a mecca for innovative and original artistic voices, a destination for performance that can be experienced nowhere else in the region. PS21’s Pavilion Theater is a green-energy marvel surrounded by 100 acres of unspoiled meadows, trails, and woodlands that are a haven to wildlife and visitors across the region.  Integrated into our unspoiled campus, the theater embodies our commitments to the public: open, inviting, and optimized for their enjoyment and encouraging citizen expression and participation.
