Led by our Curator, Claire Marsland, this month's talk focuses on The Antwerp Monstrance. Made in Antwerp in 1670, this glorious silver item is everything Baroque.
Originally made as a monstrance to display the eucharistic host in catholic ceremonies, this item has a fascinating history and was for a time used as a watch stand.
The Antwerp monstrance will be going on loan to the Faith Museum, Bishop Auckland, later in the year so join us for a final chance to see it up close and learn about its history.
Prior to the talk, enjoy a micro afternoon tea filled with delicious sweet/savoury treats and prosecco, the perfect celebratory fizz to enjoy your visit. (Hot drinks will also be provided as an alternative).
