Roll up your sleeves and join us for a delicious exploration of one of the region's most beloved treasures—crab! This demonstration and hands-on cooking class will teach you how to prepare and enjoy crab in three classic styles while learning techniques you can recreate at home.
In this class, you'll discover:
• Traditional Steamed Crabs – Learn the secrets to seasoning, steaming, and serving crabs the Chesapeake way, along with tips for picking and enjoying them like a pro.
• Classic Crab Cakes – Master the art of creating flavorful, crab-forward cakes with just the right balance of ingredients and technique.
• Soft-Shell Crabs – Learn how to clean, prepare, and cook this seasonal delicacy to crispy, golden perfection.
Along the way, we'll discuss selecting fresh crabs, proper handling and preparation, cooking techniques, and the rich culinary traditions that make crab a local favorite.
Whether you're a lifelong crab lover or looking to expand your seafood skills, this class offers the perfect blend of education, hands-on practice, and great food. Come hungry and leave with new techniques, recipes, and the confidence to bring the flavors of the Chesapeake to your own table.
Instructor: No Thyme To Cook Lead Chef Instructor
Length: Approximately 3 hours.
Format: Demonstration: The Chef will showcase how to prepare select dishes while you observe. Volunteers may be invited to assist, and questions are always welcome throughout the class.
Location: First floor.
Restrictions: Ages 16 and older. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
All students will receive 10% off any scheduled public class(es) purchased that evening.
