We are an independent arts center, collaborating with artists and non-profits to bring the arts from around the corner to around the world for our WNC community. We curate exhibitions, artist talks, performances, film screenings, and workshops. We also offer affordable art studios and spaces, as well as an art boutique with original works by our local artists. Contact us!
Description
This workshop is designed for all types of writers.
We will read and discuss several of the poems below, delving into the many faces of giving while also exploring figurative language, form, imagery, and tone. Each writer will then lift a single line from one of the poems we discuss as a starting place and write for 30 minutes. Writers are then invited to share their work if they choose. Using what they've written as inspiration, each writer will compose a piece to share at their Thanksgiving table.

“Escape to the Page” is a no-pressure, come-as-you-are creative writing adventure designed for reluctant and enthusiastic writers alike. It's an invitation to pour yourself (your messy, conflicted, sublime, sometimes timid, sometimes brave self) onto the page. For more infomation on the process, please visit www.escapetothepage.net
SONDRA HALL loves words and all of the stunning, lyrical, surprising and stirring ways they can be strung together. For more than twenty-four years, she has gathered with students in college and elementary school classrooms, in old Tuscan farmhouses, at retreat centers and around kitchen tables to explore the curiosities, the power and the joys of the written word. She holds a BA in Art History from Tufts University, an MA in Creative Arts Therapy from Lesley University, and lives happily amongst the flora and fauna of Asheville, N.C., with her musician husband, Alan, and curly-haired dog, Willow.
