Schedule:

Sept 8 – The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva

As summarized on goodreads.com, “Gabriel Allon had a simple but brutal job: he tracked down and eliminated Israel's terrorist enemies. Now Gabriel is called upon to thwart a Palestinian plot to destroy the peace negotiations in the Middle East. The architect of this plot, a Palestinian zealot named Tariq, is a lethal part of Gabriel's past, so as the two begin an intercontinental game of hide-and-seek, with life and death as the prizes, the motives are as personal as they are political.” This is the first in the Gabriel Allon series - a series that has sky-rocketed Silva to thriller fame.

Oct 6 – More Than I Love My Life by David Grossman

David Grossman: Winner of the 2022 Erasmus Prize; Winner of the 2018 Israel Prize for Literature; Winner of the 2017 Man Booker International Prize.

More Than I Love My Life, as summarized by the 2022 International Booker Prize judges “… is a tender and immersive multigenerational family novel about the rewards, punishments and dysfunctions of love; about remembering, healing and belonging.”

Nov 3 – Who By Fire: Leonard Cohen in the Sinai by Matti Friedman

Award-winning (the Sami Rohr Prize, the American Library Association's Sophie Brody Medal, and the Canadian Jewish Book Award) journalist and author, Matti Friedman, has researched and uncovered the little-known story of Leonard Cohen’s concert tour to the front lines of the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Nicole Krauss, in reviewing the book, said it best, “WHO BY FIRE is a stunning resurrection of a moment in the life of Leonard Cohen and the history of Israel. It’s the story of a young artist in crisis and a young country at war, and the powerful resonance of the chord struck between them. A beautiful, haunting book.”

The CRS Book Club coordinator highly recommends the Audible production of this wonderfully crafted volume.
