Let’s celebrate YIVO at 100!
Together, we’ll tour two of the centennial exhibitions. Hail to the Zamlers! YIVO’s Collections at 100 traces the evolution of Yiddish literature, the performing and visual arts, immigration, the Jewish labor movement, and the inspiring story of YIVO itself, featuring more than 70 select artifacts.
The Paper Brigade: Smuggling Jewish Treasures in Nazi-Occupied Vilna honors the courageous group of Jewish poets and scholars who smuggled rare books and manuscripts from the YIVO building in Berlin to the Vilna ghetto, hiding and burying them in hopes they would survive the war. Participants will also have time to explore the third exhibit, The Strashun Library: Rare Books Rescued from the Ashes of Vilna, on their own.
