Description

Join Evan Johnson, Virtual Artist in Residence at Baycrest@Home/Center for Aging and Brain Health Innovation, for an interactive workshop series rooted in wonder, creativity, and collaboration.

During these dementia-friendly sessions, participants are invited to activate their imaginations through joy-filled encounters with others. Drawing on a variety of arts-based media and evidence-informed frameworks, participants will explore fun ways to add their unique voices to group discussions and creative activities, while experiencing social connection and cognitive stimulation. All from the comforts of home!

“The brain thrives on challenge and novelty, and there is nothing more challenging and novel than taking part in improvisation theatre and theatre-creation. Improv and theatre-creation help tune up your attention, your memory, and your mental flexibility and control — all critical elements we need to keep in shape as we age."

 - Dr. Allison Sekuler (UC Berkeley, PhD, 1990), Sandra Rotman Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience, Senior Scientist and Vice-President Research Baycrest Health Sciences, Managing Director Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation.

Participants must be registered for each event they wish to attend; attendance at all sessions is encouraged but not required.
