In this TWO SESSION class, participants will make a custom frame fitting artwork up to 12" X 12". Perfect for displaying your treasured seasonal memories, or gifting during the holidays!
Learn how to cut mitered edges, create a rabbet, and cut your plexiglass to size. Participants will use a variety of tools including the table saw, miter saw, and jointer/planer. This is a beginner-friendly project, so no experience is necessary; however, having taken Intro to Shop Tools or basic familiarity with a table/miter saw is recommended.
Day 1 (Saturday, October 11, 9 AM-Noon): Design and plan out the size of your frame, and cut your pieces using the jointer, planer and table saw. Then we'll assemble and glue up frames.
Day 2 (Sunday, October 12, 2-5 PM): Finish off your frame by reinforcing miters, filling-in imperfections, sanding, installing hardware, and discuss finishing options. We'll also cut plexiglass and backer boards for our frames. Time permitting, a demo on how to use the matt cutter will be held.
If applicable, participants should bring the artwork or photo they plan to frame (or a decoy of the same size and shape) to class.
Adults and youth aged 16+ are welcome. If you'd like to take this class with a family member, please purchase one ticket per finished project you'd like to complete.

Meet the instructor: If you've been around SPTL, you may recognize Michael as a regular in the shop. He often has a neat project underway and is excited to give back the mentorship he's received from hanging around the tool library!
