Description

Have you been bitten by the dahlia ‘bug’ but now the season is over you are not quite sure what to do with your plants? Should you lift them or keep in the ground? Maybe you want to increase your plants for next season or simply share some with friends or family.

Join us for our annual winter Dahlia workshop where we share all our secrets on what to do with your dahlias over winter and also how to grow beautiful healthy dahlias that have repeat flowers all season long.

Dahlia’s are generous flowering plants that are reasonably easy to grow, but they do have some special requirements that need to be followed to ensure their success. In this comprehensive and hands-on workshop we aim to boost your knowledge and confidence growing in your own garden next season....as well as answer all your burning Dahlia questions!

This workshop will cover:

  • Different varieties and forms.
  • Tubers vs cuttings.
  • How to plant, pinch and support your dahlias.
  • Which dahlias can be left in the ground and which ones need lifting & storing.
  • How to properly dig your dahlias (it’s not as simple as you think!)
  • How to correctly wash and dry your tubers.
  • Dividing dahlias - each participant will divide a clump with some tubers to take home.
  • Parts of a tuber including how to identify ‘eyes’ and the best times to see them.
  • Which tubers will shoot and which ones will never grow.
  • How to store to ensure best quality tubers to plant in spring.
  • Discussion on virus and how to manage.
  • Common pests and diseases and what to do!
  • Dahlia Q & A

Inclusions:

Comprehensive workshop reference notes - all our Earthenry Dahlia knowledge down in print!

Tea/coffee and a hot soup (GF/Vegetarian) for lunch.

3 x packets of Earthenry Farm Dahlia Seed to take home.

Please bring:
