Join Cabot musician Dana Robinson to celebrate the release of his new album The Sound of the Word! The singer-songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler has been a fixture of the folk scene in the U.S. and UK since the early 2000’s. Dana's new release The Sound of the Word is part thought-provoking look at the state of the world and part meditation on rural life.

 

Dana’s songwriting expresses a reverence for nature and the landscape, telling stories that delve deep into rural life with wonder, humor and connection with community. Dana’s lyrics capture places in time with uncanny detail to reflect truths and connection with the forces that shape our lives.

 

In 2019 The Times-Argus, awarded Dana's album The Town That Music Saved Best Album in Vermont, and Dana’s music has been featured in Ken Burns’ documentaries.

 

Dana’s guitar playing incorporates elements of oldtime flat-picking and country blues which he combines to create a rhythmic style uniquely his own. Dana’s performances embody a vitality and excitement, which serves to reconnect the audience with the mundane and beautiful things that nourish and bring us joy.

Admission is by suggested donation. Online ticket sales end 24 hours before the event. Tickets are also available at the door; walk-ups are welcome, unless the event page says "sold out"! Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. The Hall is accessible by elevator and assisted listening devices are available upon request.

The Plainfield Town Hall Opera House is a modest-sized, affordable venue, with a capacity of 240 people (including a balcony that holds 45).

It is available to host all kinds of events – opera, theater, lectures, dances, movies, weddings, meetings, and other special events. It is valued for its excellent acoustic qualities and for the ambiance created by its high, tin-clad ceilings and walls, its hardwood floor, tall sash windows, proscenium stage, and red velvet curtains.

The building is owned and maintained by the town of Plainfield and is managed by the non-profit “Friends of the Plainfield Town Hall Opera House” (FTHOH), an organization of volunteers dedicated to keeping the arts and community alive and thriving in Plainfield and the surrounding region.
