Days of Wine and Rose/Nun Too Safe
Time: 1928
Place: Convent of the Little Sisters of Pain and Sacrifice
Premise: Elliot Ness needs a hiding place for several notorious Chicago gangsters waiting to testify against Al Capone. In order to keep them safe he has put them in a witness protection program and stashed them in a little backwater place in Minnesota, the Convent of the Little Sisters of Pain and Sacrifice. The Little Sisters are a contemplative order whose primary works are prayer and tending a small vineyard. The vineyard has been allowed to remain open, despite prohibition, in order to make sacramental wine. The sisters also make a great grape juice to sell to the locals. Sister Rose Divine, mother superior of the order, runs a very tight ship. Much to the gangsters’ dismay, everyone at the convent must earn his keep, washing vats, stomping grapes, etc.
All were living a very Spartan lifestyle until the gangsters discover how to spike the sister’s grape juice. Now the gangsters are pretty much in charge and are throwing a little party just to liven things up.
Unbeknownst to the gangsters or their guests, one of the gangsters is still loyal to Capone and has come to Indian Island to bump off the others in order to keep them from testifying against Capone. The killer uses the party as a cover to begin killing the stool pigeons. The first to be killed is a new arrival that all the gangsters say they hardly knew.
The gangsters solicit the guests’ help to figure out who is killing gangsters and why.
Murder Mystery Tickets include entertainment and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
