You asked, we listened! Join us on December 31st for the rare opportunity to experience a cab ride in one of the historic Yakima Valley Transportation Company electric locomotives.
Line Car #A was built by the Niles Car Company in 1909. Steeple Cab #298 was built by General Electric in 1922. Both are in operating condition, and we are excited to offer a rare opportunity for the public to experience these locomotives firsthand.
As the year comes to a close, these rides carry added meaning. The Yakima Valley Trolleys are currently awaiting renewal of our operating agreement with the City of Yakima, and this will be the last opportunity to ride the trolleys until a new agreement is approved by the city.
Separate tickets are also available for rides aboard classic Porto Car #1976 and rare Brill Master Unit #21.
Please note: Your purchase will include a modest processing fee charged by the ticketing platform.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR CAB RIDES:
- Participants will have the opportunity to ride in the locomotive cab for a portion of the Pine Street line (not a full Pine Street trip).
- You must be physically able to climb aboard via the steps on the side of the locomotive and enter the cab.
- Please plan to be present the entire time from 1 PM - 3:30 PM. We will take participants in small groups, but we cannot guarantee a specific departure time for each group, so you need to be present on site and available for the entire time. Failure to show up on time could mean that we are unable to accommodate you and your ticket is forfeited.
- Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or open-toed shoes.
- Seating will not be available in the cab. You must be able to stand and maintain balance in a moving locomotive cab.
- Minors must be accompanied and closely supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.
- Participants must follow all crew instructions at all times. Failure to do so may result in removal from the cab without refund.
