Design, Rhythm & Mark Making Workshop

with Anami Hayes and Marcus Valentino

How does sound shape the way we create?

Join Atlanta artists Anami Hayes and Marcus Valentino for an immersive evening of music, illustration, and collaborative mark-making. Through live soundscapes and guided prompts, participants will explore how rhythm, texture, color, and movement can be translated into visual form.

This workshop invites guests to experiment with new ways of communicating ideas, emotions, and stories. Participants will create both individual and collective works inspired by sound.

 

What to Expect: 

  • Arrive at 5:30pm to explore the latest exhibition.

  • Sip on something tasty. 

  • Explore mark making inspired by sound and rhythm

  • Experiment with illustration and visual storytelling techniques

  • Create collaborative and individual mixed media works

  • Learn how interdisciplinary artists use sound and design to build immersive experiences

  • Walk away with new ways to use sound and storytelling in visual design
     

No drawing experience required. All materials provided. Or, bring your own!

 

About Anami & Marcus

Anami Hayes

Anami Hayes is a 2D animator, illustrator, and creative director whose work blends bold color, cinematic storytelling, and painterly textures to create visual narratives rooted in Black culture and imagination. As founder of Good Looks Crew, Hayes is currently developing an original animated series exploring friendship, self-discovery, and Southern culture.

Marcus Valentino

Marcus Valentino is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and creative technologist whose work explores the intersection of music, visual art, storytelling, and emerging technology. Through immersive performances and collaborative creative experiences, Marcus creates spaces where sound, image, and community interact in real time.

The Fine Print

Accessibility: Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program. Please email miranda@museumofdesign.org with questions or information.

Cancellation Policy: MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants. If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start. By doing so, we can process a refund for the ticket cost (minus a small $10 processing fee per class). Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days before an event.‌
