Detroit-Durham Connection is back for round two! Sonic Essence and The Fruit are bringing you a special edition of Detroit-Durham Connection celebrating the intergenerational contributions of BIPOC women and nonbinary artists in the dance scene.
Last time around, we brought four veteran DJ's from the Detroit scene who truly embody the spirit and soul of Detroit techno. This iteration of DDC will feature an eclectic range of genres, with a particular emphasis on House served to us by the Detroit essential House icon, DJ Cent! Get ready for the return of the Motor City sound on July 16, when we will dance all night to sounds brought to you by both established and young talent from both cities.
We are pleased to throw this event in collaboration with Party Illegal and The Conjure, who have each selected a community representative to partake in this celebration of BIPOC women and nonbinary artists.
DON'T MISS THE FREE PRE-PARTY DINNER CHAT with our incoming artists 6:30-7:30 PM the night of the show! We have so much to learn from the decades long experiences of DJ Cent, who was one of the earliest female artists active in the Detroit scene. We are excited to hear the insights and experiences from both DJ Cent and rising star AK, who represents the newest generation of Detroit artists.
