Description

Join us for the second session of our Spring Project Series!
Our session on Dimensioning Lumber includes some how-to handouts and Video Demos where our Instructor Evan shows you how to use the thickness planer and the table saw as he prepares the lumber for our Transom.  You'll get a link to access all the materials and can peruse on your own timeline. Whether you're interested in following the build progress of our 12' rowing skiff,  learning some new techniques,  or are seriously contemplating building your own boat for a blissful summer on the lake... this series will have something for everyone.  No experience necessary!

Instructor Evan Mathiason is a lifelong woodworker. He recently completed an apprenticeship at the Arques School of Wooden Boatbuilding, focusing on traditional methods of construction, and is excited to share that experience with the MTL community through our Spring Project Series. Evan also has an interest in hand tool skills and green woodworking - including spoon and bowl carving.  In his professional life, he's worked in politics, art, and commercial photography. Recently,  he has been devoting most of his time to raising two young children, gardening and doing organizing work as a volunteer with MN350.  He lives with his wife and kids on the West side of St Paul and hopes to continue expanding his practice of wood craft.
