2026 Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival and to celebrate Silent Film Day
As part of the Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival and to celebrate Silent Film Day 2026, Jump Cut Pittsburgh presents a screening of The Student of Prague at the Parkway Theater, featuring the 2020 restoration from the Filmmuseum München. Directed by Henrik Galeen, best known for his work on Nosferatu and The Golem, this 1926 German Expressionist classic stars Conrad Veidt as a penniless student who makes a pact with the devil for love and fortune, only to be haunted by his own stolen reflection. A dark spin on the Faust legend, the film captures the wreckage of ambition, temptation, and a traded soul, all unfolding through the shadow-drenched visuals of Weimar cinema. The screening features an original live musical score by Tyler Stoner.
