"You're Welcome!" Disney's Moana Jr. debuts at Area Stage Company

Disney's Moana Jr. at Area Stage marks the company's first Conservatory production since the pandemic began. The show will be performed by a cast of talented young actors outdoors at ASC's brand new Outdoor Theatre in Sunset Place. 

Disney’s Moana JR. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR. features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”

This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR. is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.

-Ticketing-

  • For the health and safety of yourself and others, all tickets will be sold by party. No individual tickets will be available, except for parties of one who will be seated by themselves.
  • Each party (whether you select front lawn Picnic Blankets or Chair Pods) will be assigned a socially distanced section.
  • We suggest pre-ordering your tickets, as tickets purchased at the door are limited and are first come, first served.
  • You may not select your specific seats in advance within your section due to logistics involved with socially distanced seating. Your seats will be reserved for you and you will be seated upon arrival.
  • Chairs are not permitted in the Picnic Blanket section on the front lawn, so as to provide all guests with the best possible view of the stage. You must provide your own picnic blanket.

Area Stage Company

Area Stage Company (ASC), established in 1989, is an award-winning professional theatre company that for 32 years has staged provocative, world-class theatre productions. Founded by John and Maria Rodaz, ASC originated in Miami Beach as one of the pioneers of the Miami arts community that surged in the 1980’s on Lincoln Road when the once high-end shopping area had become a dilapidated strip of empty storefronts. Since its inception, ASC has presented a mix of contemporary plays and original new works, producing numerous world premieres, quickly “changing the perception and standards of what South Florida's theatres can and should be,” according to the Sun-Sentinel, which described the organization as “one of the most influential theatres in the region.”
