Description
We are thrilled and honored to present special guest Dolores Huerta at Foothill College. The event will be hosted at Smithwick Theater.
As part of our Latiné Heritage Month and Undocumented Student Success Week, we will be hosting a day of inspirational and uplifting learning, resilience, and activism.
From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Dolores Huerta will be engaged in a deep and meaningful dialogue on stage, followed by audience questions and answers. Following Dolores Huerta's presentation, we are proud to host a day of action with a variety of workshops throughout the afternoon.
From 1:00 to 3:00 pm, there will be two workshop sessions, each an hour long. Each workshop will be offered twice. Participants can select to attend up to 2 different workshops. NOTE: The Power in Knowledge workshop is 2 hours long and will only be offered once. Participants who choose to attend that workshop will not be able to schedule a second workshop.
Workshop Registration Closed: We’ve Reached Full Capacity
The following workshops will be offered:
- Stories of Belonging: An Arts-Based Reflection (Debrief Through the Arts)
- After the morning keynote, join us in a creative space to process Dolores Huerta’s call to action. Through spoken word, visual art, and collective reflection, we will explore how art can be a powerful tool for healing, resistance, and imagining futures where undocumented students thrive. No art experience needed—just bring your voice, your story, and your spirit.
- Standing in Solidarity: Becoming an UndocuAlly (An Introduction to UndocuAlly Training)
- Designed for students, staff, and faculty, this introductory training builds awareness of the realities faced by undocumented students and highlights ways to create affirming and equitable spaces. Participants will walk away with practical strategies to serve as effective allies, advocates, and accomplices.
- Dreaming Forward: Financial Aid & Basic Needs Resources for Undocumented Students (Financial Aid and Basic Needs Support)
- Undocumented students have access to more resources than ever before—but navigating the process can feel overwhelming. This workshop provides clear guidance on the California Dream Act, scholarships, and campus-based financial supports while also highlighting essential basic needs resources such as food assistance, housing support, mental health services, and textbook programs. Our goal is to empower students to confidently pursue their educational goals without financial or basic needs barriers holding them back.
- Students Lead the Way: Centering Undocumented Voices (Student-Centered Workshops)
- In this student-led session, undocumented and mixed-status students will share their lived experiences and strategies for resilience. Together, we’ll discuss ways to reimagine college systems that honor belonging, build power, and amplify student leadership.
- Breaking Barriers: Equity for DACAmented Workers
- Since 2012, DACA has created new opportunities for undocumented professionals—but barriers persist. This workshop highlights the challenges and successes of DACAmented workers in higher education and shares campus and statewide efforts to advance equity, belonging, and workplace justice.
- Power in Knowledge: Know Your Rights (Know Your Rights Training with Immigration Institute of the Bay Area)
- Led by the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA), this interactive session equips undocumented and mixed-status students with practical tools to navigate everyday challenges. Learn about your legal rights, safety planning, and available protections, while also gaining resources to support your family and community.
- Note: This workshop is 2 hours long. Participants will not be able to attend a second workshop.
When registering, you will be asked to indicate which workshop(s) you would like to register for, if any. We will notify you as we get closer to the date of the event the locations of the workshops you will be registered for.
