An evening of Celtic performances featuring:

the Delta Police Pipe Band - world renowned for their crowd pleasing musical presentations, they are ambassadors for the Delta Police Department and the Municipality of Delta. They have performed at numerous National and International events including Edinburgh, Windsor, and Basel, and have appeared with Sir Paul McCartney performing the famous Mull of Kintyre.

the Magee Chamber Choir - one of 5 choirs at Magee Secondary School in Vancouver.  The auditioned ensemble, composed of senior level students, are dedicated to creating music at a very high level of choral artistry in a variety of styles and genres.

the Christie Highland Dancers - The Christie School of dance opened in 1961 when Dorothy Christie immigrated from Aberdeen, Scotland to Vancouver. It began with a few neighbourhood kids, and grew to well over 100 dancers. Dorothy's daughter Michele began teaching with her in 1980. They taught together until 1987, when Dorothy sadly passed away. Michele continued the dancing school to share their love of highland dancing. The dancers range from age 4 to 24. They have been lucky enough to travel all through North American and Scotland competing at Major Competitions and Championships and are excited to perform with the Delta Police Pipe Band and entertain the audience with such an exciting show.

and Blackthorn - Vancouver’s longest-running Celtic group whose extensive repertoire is rooted in the musical traditions of Scotland and Ireland as well as the folk music of English and French Canada. From lively jigs and reels, to songs with rousing choruses and heart-wrenching airs and ballads, they bring the music to life with their luscious harmonies and complex instrumentation.

Leanne Page, a Celtic harpist and classically trained singer based in Surrey, BC, is a passionate musician who is enchanted both by the rich and ancient history of the harp and by its magical voice. She currently devotes her time to the study of Irish traditional harping and therapeutic music practice, and performs across the Lower Mainland in a variety of venues and contexts.  

Connor Page, a harpsichordist, pianist and multi-instrumentalist based in Surrey, BC. An enthusiast for historical keyboard technique and early music performance, Connor also enjoys exploring repertoires and practices ranging from jazz to Celtic traditional music. Alongside his varied musical activities in and around the Lower Mainland, Connor is a graduate student in English literature at UBC.

Delta Police Pipe Band Society (BC Reg 74345 9695 BC0001)

The Delta Police Pipe Band was formed in 1971 by members of the Delta Police Department in the Municipality of Delta. In honor of the co-founder of the Delta Police Pipe Band, the late Chief Constable Mervyn W. Smith, the Band wears the predominantly green and blue Ancient Smith Tartan along with full highland dress with feather bonnets. The Band consists of 50 pipers and drummers and is under the direction of Pipe Major Steve Ramsden and Drum Major Ron McMillan. The Delta Police Pipe Band is world renowned for their crowd pleasing musical presentations and are ambassadors for the Delta Police Department and the Municipality of Delta. They have performed at numerous National and International events.
