Draft Your Own Sewing Pattern: Pattern-making from and Existing Garment

Description

Ever wish you could replicate a favorite garment? In this class you will learn how to draft a pattern based off an existing garment. This is an intermediate level patternmaking class, but adventurous beginners are welcome!

Please bring a simple tailored garment, that you would love to have a pattern for (or a couple different clothing items to choose from) and if this is your first-time pattern making it is best to avoid fancy details and elaborate garments.

 

Class supplies (bring if possible):

• measuring tape for sewing
• scissors
• sharpened pencil and eraser
• yardstick, t-square, or quilting ruler
• A snack! This is a four hour class, bring yourself a little snack!

 

Accessibility notes:

• This class requires fine motor control to maneuver pencils, scissors, and rulers.
• This class will be in the studios above Lex Center for Creative Reuse, which is up a set of outdoor stairs. An elevator is available, but it is best to let the shop know ahead of time so that someone who knows how to operate the elevator is available.

 

Note: This class will be canceled if fewer than 2 students sign up. Refunds will be provided if this happens.
