Description

Annual Summer Solstice Walk - Saturday, June 21 or Sunday, June 22

We will have our Summer Solstice hike to the Tibetan Treasure Vase site in Cuckhold's Cove (Quidi Vidi) on Saturday, June 21 or Sunday, June 22. The day and time will be finalized based on availability of those who register and the weather forecast. We usually go around midday and the total duration is approximately 2 hours.

The tradition of visiting this site on the solstice was initiated by the local Shambhala Buddhist group who buried a Tibetan Treasure Vase there in the late 90's. We will participate in a lhasang, which is a Tibetan ritual with chanting and walking through Juniper smoke, followed by a silent sitting and tea.

We will meet in the car park near the end of Cuckold's Cove Road, by the entrance to Ladies Lookout Trail to hike up to the site. It’s a short climb with a steep section, approximately 10-15 minutes.

Please register with an event ticket and we will finalize the time (TBD - late Sunday morning) and provide specific directions for meet up. Please bring your own snacks and beverages if you like. A water bottle, hat, hiking footwear, and layered clothing are recommended.
