Our featured artist for this dance is Keena Maya!
The depths of Keena Maya's sound are incantations, drawing us down into our roots, grounding us into our bodies, and invoking the incandescent deity within us to rise.
As a sound artist, DJ, instrumentalist, and guide, she passionately creates intentional dance rituals for somatic awareness, heart expansion and collective remembrance - connecting the self, the community, the Earth, and the Sacred.
She is a resident DJ of Ecstatic Dance NYC and shares her signature BASS BLISS sets with ecstatic dances around the world.
With her beloved Joro-Boro, she is half of the ritual bass project b e i n g. s o u n d . They perform live electronic/acoustic ambient music, guide binaural bass meditations, and create immersive sound art & installations.
Keena Maya is here to empower and uplift the creativity of others and does this through her work as a pillar of the feminine powered Collective BAE and as a teacher with the Beyond Academy.
Roots in Brooklyn and currently stewarding life in the Hudson Valley of New York with her daughter and husband. Keena Maya is, so that we may become.

Closing Sound Meditation with Melissa officinalis & Matthew Beck
We will gently land our dance with a special Closing Sound Meditation, featuring live instruments such as guitar, shruti box, koshi chimes, harmonium, shakers, rain stick, singing bowls, and vocals, including call and response mantra, and guided meditation. Please feel welcome to bring a blanket to sit or lay on for this experience.
Melissa officinalis (Melissa Scheibner) is a sound meditation practitioner, ecstatic dance facilitator and DJ, herbalist, and community organizer. Her artist name comes from the botanical name for the plant Lemon Balm, whose plant spirit medicine is uplifting and grounding. She is passionate about bringing community together for holistic experiences, connecting with mind, body, spirit, and nature.
